February Mu's of the Month

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

Welcome to the first post featuring our new membership recognition initiative: Mu of the Month! This new initiative helps everybody get to know our sisters better by highlighting their experiences both inside and outside Phi Mu! Congratulations to our two February Mu’s of the Month: Olivia Banks and Lucie Lovato.

Name: Olivia Banks.

Phi Class: Spring PC ‘22.

Major: Nursing.

Hometown: Tampa, Florida.

Fun Fact: My cat went Tik-Tok famous over quarantine! (@sassykittymeow)

Favorite Phi Mu meal: Taco Tuesday or Bang Bang Shrimp Day.

What are your goals and ambitions? One of my goals is to be a labor and delivery nurse. I aspire to help bring children into the world and help start families!

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my mom. She is one of the strongest women I know. She has been through so much which has inspired me to become a confident woman myself. I want to be just like her when I am older!

What made you realize that Phi Mu was your home? I decided to go phi mu when I realized how genuine and down-to-earth everyone was. I felt included and loved every conversation I had.

What is your favorite Phi Mu memory? My favorite phi mu memory was recruitment. Although recruitment can be draining, it is where I met my closest friends who I know I can always rely on and who will be there for me no matter what!

What inspires your love of Phi Mu? The friends that I’ve made since being initiated. I never would have thought I would be accepted by so many girls for being my true self. This chapter is truly one of a kind!

Name: Lucie Grace Lovato.

Phi Class: Fall PC ‘22.

Major: English (Literature, Media, and Culture).

Hometown: Pensacola, Florida.

Fun Fact: I was a junior Saintsation for the NFL Saints team!

Favorite Phi Mu snack: MILANOS (they’re out right now and I’m so sad about it).

What is something you're really passionate about? I am really passionate about raising awareness for Vascular Birthmarks. I was diagnosed with mine when I was two and I have recently been looking into how I can help others with both coping with the diagnosis and receiving treatment. I hope that at some point in my life, I can start something, maybe a foundation, that can help pay for treatments for those who are unable to afford them.

Who is your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspiration is absolutely my mom. She is the most important person in my life, and I admire the way that she holds herself day by day. She handles every situation with grace, and I hope to be able to accomplish at least half of what she has been able to do.

When did you realize that Phi My was your home? Walking into Phi Mu during recruitment, I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. I felt like I was taking a break from the stress of recruitment. By the third round, I recognized Phi Mu as a home and I knew that it was the place for me!

What is your favorite Phi Mu memory? My favorite phi mu memory so far is from Big/Little reveal! The surprise and event itself was so fun, and that was the day that I was welcomed into the most supportive and fun family ever. My family has been so inclusive, and I love them all so much. I had such a great time dressing up as a pop star with them!

What inspires your love of Phi Mu? My love of Phi Mu is inspired by my sisters (which is cheesy, I know). I am truly in awe of how kind, passionate, and driven each and every woman I meet in our chapter is. Our sisterhood is so welcoming and inspiring, and my love for our chapter stems from each of them!
