This summer I had the opportunity to study abroad in Valencia, Spain for 6 weeks and I’m so thankful for the experience and everything it gave me! Looking back, one of the things I’m most grateful for is the friendships that I made with so many other Florida State students that I may never have met otherwise. Being in the Panhellenic community allowed me to connect with a lot of other amazing women in different chapters and I’m looking forward to bringing those relationships back with me to Tallahassee! I was able to make such close friendships because we could connect over something so unique and special... like spending a month and a half in a foreign country together! Overall, studying abroad just allowed me to push myself outside of my comfort zone and meet amazing new people!
Apart from that, I think that one of the best parts of the whole experience was just being able to travel and see so many different cultures. Going on trips around the world with women I hadn’t known a few weeks before was such a unique opportunity and allowed me to create so many amazing memories! My favorite trip was probably Morocco because it was different from any other place I had been to. Riding camels in the desert is 100% something I will never forget!
Being in Europe makes it so much easier to travel to many different countries, and studying abroad made me feel comfortable traveling to have new experiences in amazing places. Even though I was fortunate enough to travel outside of Valencia, Florida State’s study abroad program is so amazing because it truly made all of the students feel at home in Spain, and pushed us all to get the best out of our experience. Every Friday, there were different field trips or excursions that we could go on which made it so much easier to see and do new things. My favorite was going to a hot spring called Montanejos where we got to hike these beautiful sceneries, and then swim in springs with the clearest water I have ever seen. I’m just so thankful for FSU and everything they put into this program, and now all of the new memories and friends I got to take back home with me.
Until the next adventure, XOXO
